Qualifying – the inner game of beach volleyball
In the last months Yariv Lerner, our CEO, has been producing a passion project about beach volleyball. This is a sport close to his heart as Yariv has been a volleyball player since his teens and spent 7 years coaching teams in LA.
The film is written by Tom Black, produced by Yariv Lerner, and directed by Minh Collins – creaters who have all have played a significant amount of beach volleyball themselves over many years. Starring Trevor Van Ueden as the lead, and a host of other real-life professional volleyball players in Travis MeWhirter, Jake McNeil, Will Howey, Billy Allen, and legendary beach coach Greg Renovich.
Travis is also a sports writer and wrote a great article about this film with a lot of detail – you can read it here:
Yariv is bringing beach volleyball to the big screen
The project originated when Yariv was 23 years old when he was in Venice living with Tom Black, who wrote the script, but it was only now that I managed to put it together.
It tells the story of Greg Nicholson, who must convince his long-time friend and partner to forgo his scholarship at medical school and pursue a lifelong dream of qualifying on the world tour. It’s the first time a movie about beach volleyball has been filmed by taking the camera inside and showing the perspective from within.
